Latin-American School for Food Systems Resilience:
“Transformative socio-environmental learning: fostering food systems innovation grounded in local knowledge.”
Cuzco, Peru – April 22 to May 2, 2019
The Global Diversity Foundation presents the Latin American Academy of Food Systems Resilience (ALLSA 2019). This academy was born from the Global Environments Network (GEN) initiative, whose objective is to train and create networks of inspiring and dynamic environmental leaders in a global action network. Since 2011, GEN has organised five summer academies in Europe, two regional academies and four exchanges of community environmental leaders.
ALLSA 2019 is designed to broaden and deepen our understanding of food systems, understood as socio-ecological systems, through participation, collective learning (“peer-to-peer learning processes”), multi-cultural dialogue and comprehensive and holistic understanding, in order to promote innovative approaches and processes of sustainability for the resilience of local food systems. At ALLSA 2019, regional experts (academics, indigenous leaders, local farmers and entrepreneurs) will participate as mentors, facilitating the co-learning of innovative Spanish-speaking leaders. This year, ALLSA will focus on the promotion of innovation in food systems based on local knowledge its objective is to create a co-learning and networking space for those who are especially interested in these topics.
ALLSA 2019, will be held between April 22 and May 2, 2019 in Cuzco, Peru, in collaboration with the communities of the Potato Park, a Quechua farmers´association that conserves a wide agrobiodiversity of Andean crops, promoting sovereignty food and sustainable ways of life.
