Project Description
I first worked for World Wide Fund for Nature North Africa based in Tunisia as an intern in 2011. I later joined their freshwater programme where my interest for the cultural aspects of wetland conservation was born. This period of my working life was very creative. It was during this time that a new concept was developed: an accreditation that focuses on human dimensions of wetland conservation called “Wetland City Accreditation in the Ramsar Convention”. This was later adopted by the contracting parties and stated in the Ramsar Convention. Since 2013, I have been coordinating a project in the Mediterranean that highlights the crucial role of cultural practices on nature conservation.
