Ram Devi Tachamo

GESA 2011  |  Nepal  |  Environmental Scientist

In the future, I see myself as an academic researcher, conservationist and environmental leader.

My interest in the environment took seed during my undergraduate program at Tribhuvan University, Nepal. To pursue my interest, I volunteered for several organizations as a City Volunteer and Clean Energy Campaigner where I played an active role in educating women, the community, and school students on various global and local environmental issues.

I have completed my MSc in Environmental Science specializing in Limnology and Wetland Ecosystems at the UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education in Delft, The Netherlands. During my graduate study, I furthered my understandings of the human dimensions of environment change, the development of innovative technologies for solving environmental problems, the function and management of ecosystems, conservation and wise use. In addition, I learned how to interact with stakeholders, managers and policy makers in the development of best practices. With nine years of experience in environmental issues and socio-cultural interactions, I possess both practical and technical knowledge coupled with a passion for water and biodiversity conservation. I have solid experience working with resource and water management, sustainability studies, awareness campaigns, and climate change issues.

In Nepal, a generation of responsible young people, including myself, are making relentless efforts to rescue our extremely exploited environment.
