Rewilding project in the UK

An interview with Isabella Tree, on Desert Island Discs

Wilding – the Return of Nature to a British Farm

Desert Island Discs is a radio programme broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in the UK with public figures talking about their lives and inspirations, and sharing their favour songs. In this episode we hear from Isabella Tree, author of ‘Wilding – the Return of Nature to a British Farm’, the story of the pioneering UK rewilding project, Knepp, in West Sussex, where she lives.

In her book, Isabella describes the ‘Knepp experiment’ in detail, and “what it reveals of the ways in which we might regain that wilder, richer country. It shows how rewilding works across Europe; that it has multiple benefits for the land; that it can generate economic activity and employment; how it can benefit both nature and us – and that all of this can happen astonishingly quickly.”
